Staple Duas For Protection

Mu’awwidhatan المعوذتان

or Verses of Refuge refer to the last two chapters of the Quran – Surat Al Falaq اَلْفَلَق (ch.113) and Surat Al  Nas الناس‎ (ch.114).

They were revealed together and were used extensively by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for general protection and healing as well as specifically for psychic and metaphysical attacks. They are very powerful invocations that are the basis of the majority of Islamic protection spells, both recited and inscribed, along with the first chapter of the Quran called Surat al Fatiha الفاتحة‎ (the Opening Chapter) and the Ayat al Kursi آيَة الْكُرْسِي (Verse of the Throne).

Recite the verses into your cupped hands and blow then wipe your hands over your entire body from top to bottom. Make sure not to miss your face, top and back of head, underarms, the solar plexus (soft spot right below where your ribcage meets) and your back.

Repeat the whole process 3x

SURAT AL FATIHA الفاتحة‎

or Opening Chapter is the very first chapter of the Quran. Just in the context of the five daily prayers, a Muslim will recite these seven verses a minimum of 17 times in a day. It is considered to be the “Greatest Surah” in the Quran, and even known to be the surah (or chapter) that contains all of the other chapters. There is much lore and many uses for these very powerful seven verses, which we will get into in a separate post. Recitation.

Ayat Al-Kursi آيَة الْكُرْسِي,

or Verse of the Throne will definitely be a separate post+ on its own. It is a very powerful invocation and used extensively for protection and healing, seen frequently on amulets and talismans. It is verse 255 from the second chapter Surat Al Baqara (the Cow). Recitation.

Translation
255 “Allah! There is no god but He,the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what appears before or after or behind. Nor shall they compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Most Great.
